BESToftheBLESSED RULES AND REGULATIONS:
BESToftheBLESSED exists to give a National ministering platform to up and coming
indie Christian artists. Our goal is to help equip and train hundreds of artists
with a passion and calling to serve God with their musical gifts, for them to
become effective artists and God’s instruments. If you are signed with a label
or in negotiations for a contract, you are not eligible for the BESToftheBLESSED
Contest. All entries will receive a professional critic to help continue their
development as artists who impact many for the Kingdom of Heaven.
GENERAL RULES:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Cannot be currently signed with a record label or in negotiations for a
contract
- Must submit your entry with accurate information, full payment and
required attachments
- Must provide valid e-mail and mailing address.
- Online voting begins May 15, 2009 and closes 12midnight July 30th, 2009.
- Must be available to travel from August 20th-23rd if selected as a
finalist. Final showcase is on Friday, August 21st for all categories.
DATES AND DEADLINES:
Online competition and voting begins May 15th and will conclude 12midnight,
July 30th. If you are chosen as one of the top 3 finalists, you must be in San
Diego, California from August 20th – 23rd. Final showcase begins the morning of
the 21st.
GENERARL DETAILS FOR UOP WEEK:
August 21st: Final showcase, workshops specific to the development of your
artistry to prepare you for the 2009 Christian Music Awards stage and final
contest. (Breakfast and lunch provided.)
August 22nd: 2009 Christian Music Awards!! Final rehearsal schedule for this day
will be sent to all finalists. All finalists will receive a ticket for the
awards show.
Additional tickets to the Christian Music Award for family and friends can be
purchased separately. A complete itinerary and additional details will be mailed
to each finalist.
FEES:
Entry fee is required at time of submission. There are NO refunds on contest
entry fees. All travel expenses to and from San Diego, California including
transportation, meals not included and lodging is the sole responsibility of
each finalist. We will provide you with information on specific discounts
exclusive to the Christian Music Awards. The Hilton Bayfront is our host hotel
where all UOP events will take place. We have secured a special rate for all
final contestants.
Entry Fees:
- 90 solo/duet
- 175 group/band
- 145 Creative Movement/Dance
JUDGING:
We reserve the right to not post any video/music content that we feel does not
fit our criteria or ethical standard.
Solo/Duet & Group/Band
Preliminary finalists from each category will be chosen by a combination of
online voters and our BESToftheBLESSED panel of judges. There are a total of 3
finalists chosen from each category to compete in San Diego to win a place on
the main stage of the 2009 Christian Music Awards. The finalists will be chosen
and posted by August 1st 2009.
You will be judged based on these 4 main components:
- Spiritual Effectiveness: Your ability to authentically honor God and draw
people to Him through scriptural content, conviction of your message and
delivery.
- Musicality: The measure of excellence & creativity you show both
instrumentally & vocally.
- Originality & Song selection: The caliber of song composition or
successful choice of music.
- Presentation: The effectiveness of your stage presence & ability to engage
the audience.
Creative Movement/Dance
Video Submissions only will be accepted for this category. (This is a new
category for 2009, if there are not enough submissions, this portion of the
contest may be eliminated and contestants who entered will automatically be
entered for 2010.)
The preliminary finalists from this category will be chosen by a combination of
online voters and our BESToftheBLESSED panel of judges. There are a total of 3
finalists chosen from the Creative Movement/Dance category to compete in San
Diego for a chance to win a place on the main stage of the 2009 Christian Music
Awards. The finalists will be chosen and posted by August 1st 2009.
((If chosen as the final contestants, routine chosen as winning performance must
be the same routine that is performed on stage for the 2009 Christian Music
Awards.))
You will be judged based on these 5 main components:
- Spiritual Effectiveness. Your ability to authentically honor God and draw
people to Him through the gift of movement
- Dance Technique: Your display of technical proficiency
- Dancers Connection to the Music: How your visual expression works with and
compliments the music
- Choreography: Your level of creativity performed appropriately
- Overall Visual Presentation: The effectiveness of your presentation to
engage the audience
PRIZES
Prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category will be
awarded. We reserve the right to change cash prize value at any time, or add
to for additional value, any changes will be posted as finalized. Grand Prize
Winners may have the opportunity to be seen on national television. (For
non-original songs, song selection must comply with all copyright laws; any
fees associated may be the responsibility of the winner.)
